Amitabh Bachchan becomes the first from Bollywood to feature at Madame Tussauds, the famous waxwork museum, at it’s Hong Kong branch!
On loan for the next three months from Madame Tussauds in London, Bachchan’s wax figure will take it’s place alongside Hollywood A listers such as Jackie Chan, Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.
The actor, who has done over 100 films in his almost 40 years career, first created history in the year 2000 when he became the first Bollywood actor to have his wax figure installed at the London Tussauds.
“There is a growing demand for us to feature Indian film stars. Bachchan’s entry here today is part of our effort to enhance the guest experience for our Indian visitors,” Bret Pidgeon, General Manager, Madame Tussauds, Hong Kong and Shanghai said in a statement issued to the media.
Hong Kong is a popular destination for Indian tourists who also visit Madame Tussads, which displays a collection of over 100 international celebrities and world leaders.
“We anticipate that Bachchan’s wax figure will be incredibly popular with the Indian community both in Hong Kong and abroad, so we’ll definitely explore a more permanent tribute to the Indian film industry here at Madame Tussuads Hong Kong in the future,” said Pidgeon.
Amitabh’s wax figure will be on display at the museum’s World Premiere section till August 9.
