While most actresses would shy away from cozying up to a female actor on screen, Divya Dutta took the challenge head on!
Divya, who’s proved her acting mettle time and again (most recently in Delhi 6) was initially at loss, when she was told that she has a lesbian scene with co-star Kitu Gidwani in the film Monica.
But rather than shirking away from it, Divya decided to do the scene.
The actress tells a website that she approached the scene very professionally and discussed it with Kitu Gidwani before the shoot. But more than anything, she prepared herself mentally.
“I mentally prepared myself. I was just an actor playing a character,” Divya is quoted as saying. Apparently, the scene turned out very well.
According to Divya, it was shot aesthetically and isn’t vulgar or titillating. The film is the story of two struggling and vulnerable women who find solace in each other.
Before Divya landed the role, many actresses had turned it down simply because they did not want to do the lesbian scene. In the past, only a few actresses have mustered courage to indulge in something like this.
