aamirbody Ghajini Movie Review

Apun Ka Choice: If you can digest an overdose of physical violence, then Ghajini is a film you shouldn’t miss for Aamir Khan’s unforgettable performance. Stoically, Aamir Khan walks and rips through the film with the charm of a Casanova and the beastliness of a vengeful man, and delivers a performance that will be remembered even though the movie itself may be forgotten after a few months. Despite its long duration of three-plus hours, the movie, with its quick pace, doesn’t weigh heavy, and leaves you with a mind out of time.

CNN-IBN:
It’s an old-fashioned entertainer with a half-convincing plot, packed with enough gratuitous violence to qualify as a B-movie really; and like the most popular B-movies ever, the biggest strength of Ghajini lies in the fact that it’s a fast-moving roller-coaster ride, that seldom gives you a moment to stop and think how stupid it might actually be! Ghajini isn’t a particularly good film, but entertainment it delivers by the bucketful. At a running time of 3 hours, the film seldom drags and therein lies its victory.

DNA India: An action extravaganza that works! We have had our romantic weepathons, our comic blockbusters, and masala entertainers. This one is three hours of all of those, with a strong undercurrent of action. Unpretentious, it goes all out to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Ghajini, remake of the Tamil hit of the same name, which in turn was inspired by Christopher Nolan’s cult-and-confused Memento, is perfectly suited to Hindi film audience tastes. Ghajini does have its shortcomings (Aamir’s overdoing of the skin show and gory action), but at a little over three hours, it’s an entertaining fare.

Glamsham:
If violence, revenge and a little bit of romance is what you like, Ghajini is what you will love. Ghajini is a complete entertainer; it has action, romance, comedy, suspense and revenge, the age-old Bollywood formula. The film clocks three hours and the audience, who love typical Bollywood films, and are starving for the same, loved every minute of it!

Hindustan Times:
Ouch, call the ambulance!

IndiaFM: Ghajini is a revenge saga, one ingredient that has been the staple diet of Hindi films since time immemorial. It is a powerful film. It has the power to sweep you off your feet from the word ‘go’. It has a riveting story, which has been told with flourish by director A.R. Murugadoss. And, of course, it has a knockout performance by Aamir Khan. If at all there’s a shred of doubt whether Aamir is The Best in the business, all you’ve got to do is check out Ghajini!

Movie Talkies: Aamir Khan’s performance in Ghajini gives the good old masala potboilers a much needed shot in the arm. Like all formula fare, Ghajini’s story is, in a certain sense, predictable, but what raises the bar here is the manner in which the movie has been shot, its screenplay, and its riveting performances by the lead pair of Aamir and Asin. Ghajini is a commercial, masala film and it makes no bones about it. In fact, it would be no exaggeration to say that the film celebrates the return of the commercial potboiler. This formula works!

Now Running:
Aamir Khan rocks and carries the entire movie on his now much broader shoulders! Ghajini is one of the very best entertainers of the year. It is Aamir Khan’s show all the way and you cannot afford to miss this! Don’t look for logic behind every scene, it’s not an intelligent film. It’s a film which ensures total entertainment for the 3 hours+ you spend watching the movie, which is a sure shot blockbuster at the box-office.

Rediff:
A sleek album of dark memories!

Times Of India:
The high point of Ghajini is Aamir Khan’s class act of the hero who switches from a shy, taciturn tycoon to a vulnerable killing machine who mauls his prey like a wounded tiger. Roars and grunts, included! The other place where the film scores is in its narration. Loosely inspired by Christopher Nolan’s Memento, the film moves back and forth in time, as it juxtaposes an effervescent romance in the past against a brutalized, spaced-out present. The two time zones criss-cross interestingly, leaving enough suspense to keep the viewer attentive. All in all, Ghajini is a thoroughbred Bollywood film which celebrates the formula with panache. Enjoy the unadulterated desi!
