wc Its official: Wedding Crashers to be remade in Bollywood!

This could be a first for Bollywood, where filmmakers are known for lifting movies from Hollywood!

In an industry where plagiarism is rife, this piece of news comes as a surprise.

Nikhil Advani and Mukesh Talreja of Orion Pictures are going the official way to remake the Hollywood film Wedding Crashers in Hindi!

The duo apparently feels that the Warner Bros.’ romantic comedy, revolving around romance and weddings, has all the ingredients and potential to be a Bollywood blockbuster.

Orion Pictures is presently in talks with Warner Bros. for the remake.

Interestingly, the Bollywood production house won’t reportedly pay any money for the remake rights. Rather, Warner Bros. will benefit by being the presenter and the worldwide distributor of the Hindi remake.

Officials at both Orion Pictures and Warner Bros. have confirmed that they are in talks for the remake and some top Bollywood stars are under consideration for playing leading roles in the film. But the deal hasn’t been inked yet.

The Hindi version won’t be directed by Nikhil Advani. Since the movie revolves around weddings, the makers are thinking of roping in a director who can handle the genre well.

Starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in lead roles, Wedding Crashers tells the story of two longtime friends who frequently crash into weddings (as uninvited guests) to meet women and make their way into the heart of bridesmaid.

In one such high profile wedding, the duo falls for the younger sisters of the bride. Their ensuing affair with the two girls becomes complex than presumed, eventually leading to a fallout between the two friends. The movie concludes with an elaborate wedding, but not without some unexpected drama!

Released in 2005, Wedding Crashers was made at a lavish budget of $40 million. The Bollywood remake would also be a mammoth production with budget running into several crores of rupees.

Stay tuned in!

@zabeeh – Thanks for the Hindustan Times interview offer.

However, I’m a very small blogger compare to all the big shots out there in the market and I don’t think I’m worthy of being interviewed by a Big National Newspaper such as Hindustan Times!

I’m media shy and very happy with whatever little I’m doing in the blogosphere.

Thanks for the interview offer anyways, buddy :)

Take care!
