kkl Khuda Kay Liye Movie Review

Apun Ka Choice: Pakistani film Khuda Kay Liye tells an engrossing, multi-layered story that pits the opinion of the moderate, tolerant Muslims against the fundamentalist ones. While the film’s introspective theme takes a look within the contemporary Pakistani society and shows the wedge between the moderates and extremists, it also brings to the fore the less-acknowledged truth, that, Muslims are being viewed with increasing suspicion in the West. What stands out is, Shoaib Mansoor‘s honest intention, and his deft handling of a serious, sensitive and pertinent subject. Worth a watch!

BBC: A thought-provoking film, which will spark many debates on individuals’ religious beliefs.

CNN-IBN: It’s not only the most important film to come out of Pakistan for as long as one can remember, it is, more importantly the most relevant mainstream film on Islam that you’ve possibly seen. Directed by Shoaib Mansoor, Khuda Kay Liye is a brave and inherently honest film that addresses pertinent issues like Islamic fundamentalism, the status of women in contemporary Islam, the consequential effects of 9/11 on Muslims in America, and the divide in Pakistani society between the liberals and the extremists. Khuda Kay Liye is an immensely engaging film, because, it’s made from the heart.

Hindustan Times: Khuda Kay Liye is a thought-provoking work on the state of the Muslim identity today in particular, post the 9/11 devastation. After many moons, here’s a film that makes a strong, progressive statement. So Khuda Kay Liye, just watch it!

IndiaFM: On the whole, Khuda Kay Liye is a well-made film, but it caters to the thinking audience, the intelligentsia mainly. At the box-office, the film caters to a handful of multiplexes in a handful of cites only. Sure, it would win tremendous critical acclaim, but box-office dividends in India are ruled out.

Now Running: Inaccurate interpretation of religious books like the Quran, the trauma of liberal Muslims in Pakistan and Muslim-bashing post 9/11, forced Pakistani director Shoaib Mansoor to take the bold step to make Khuda Kay Liye, which in many ways is an eye opener. The film is a must watch!

Rediff: Khuda Kay Liye is a serious film and worth a watch, especially if you are interested in what Islam has to say on various issues. The film tackles a bold and controversial theme that attacks Islamic fundametalism in a subtle way, and that too, in Pakistan.

Times Of India: There have been a number of post 9/11 offerings from Hollywood, but it takes a Pakistani film to create the maximum impact, worldwide, with its topical rendition of contemporary history’s most burning issue: Islamic fundamentalism. Shoaib Mansoor’s Khuda Kay Liye is indeed a historic event, being the first Pakistani film to be released in India after a hiatus of almost four decades! Khuda Kay Liye isn’t merely a powerful story; it’s a film that boasts of fine performances, a great music score and sophisticated production values. Now, here’s meaningful cinema that doesn’t compromise on commercial values. Go for it and get thinking!

We all should appreciate his nice work and true intention… I liked NASRUDDI SHAH’S Character.. Such a beautiful message the character gives about the ISLAM…
