Aamir Khan talks about Andaz Apna Apna and Sarfarosh’s sequels

Aamir Khan claims that he is not against sequels but believes that films like Sarfarosh and Andaz Apna Apna, that have absolutely independent story to tell, should go for it.

“I don’t have any objection in a sequel. If I have seen a story, the characters and I liked that, then I would like to know what happened to the character later,” Aamir told media.

“If there is a possibility of an equally nice story, different from the first plot but using same characters, I don’t mind making a sequel. Sequel should have an independent story. Like in my film Sarfarosh, what is ACP Rathod (his character) solving next? Or film like Andaz Apna Apna has huge potential for a sequel. I am just stating but none of them has been worked out, so don’t spread that their sequels are coming up.”

He himself is gearing up for Dhoom 3, but every sequel should have an independent story, insists Aamir.

“This is one good sequel. Every ‘Dhoom’ has a different story. John (Abraham) comes, then Hrithik (Roshan) comes and now I have a different story,” said Aamir.

After decades, Aamir is again set to pen down a script. He is shaping the story jointly with his filmmaker wife Kiran Rao and nephews Mansoor and Nuzhat Khan.

“I have worked as a co-writer in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992), Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993). Once again, I am writing a script with Kiran, Mansoor and Nuzhat. Four of us are writing together. It’s an idea that came to me,” said Aamir.

The 46-year-old maintains that if the script gets locked, Kiran would direct the film.

“Kiran would be directing it. It’s quite a mainstream kind of film so it would be bit unusual for her also. Hopefully, I would be acting in it too. It’s too early to decide. If the script gets locked in next five months, then I can say that we are making the film. That news I can give you in six months’ time,” said Aamir.

Though the much talked about shoot of Dhoom 3 is scheduled to begin in February 2012, Aamir Khan has already been sweating out for the last six months for his role in the film!

According to media sources, Aamir wants to train for one full year for his role in D3. That is the reason, the actor started his rigorous workouts for his role from January 2011 to give him enough time to shape up for the role. Aamir, on his part, has also admitted that he is training hard for the film.

“I take out at least one hour everyday to do some serious workout in the gym for my role in Dhoom 3. Though the film will go on the floors in February 2012, I have decided to work on my body in the meantime.”

Aamir Khan in Reema Kagti’s suspense thriller

After scorching the screens in 2001 with their cult outing Dil Chahta Hai, Aamir Khan and Farhan Akhtar have teamed up again for a suspense drama.

Co-written by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, the movie will be directed by Kagti. It will go on floors in February, 2011.

Aamir, who took a break from acting after the release of his blockbuster 3 Idiots to concentrate on his home productions Peepli Live, Dhobi Ghat and Delhi Belly, has joined hands again with Farhan and his producer partner Ritesh Sidhwani.

“I found the script written by Reema and Zoya really exciting and I am looking forward to working with Ritesh and Farhan once again,” Aamir said in a statement.

Both Farhan and Ritesh are equally excited to team up with Aamir, who will co-produce it with the duo’s Excel Entertainment.

“It feels great to be collaborating with Aamir a decade after DCH. We had been hoping to do a film together since then and I’m thrilled that it is finally happening with this script,” said Farhan.

Ritesh said: “I have been waiting to work with Aamir since ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and its finally happening. It’s special this time as we are also producing it together. I can’t wait to start filming!”

The film is scheduled for a 2011 release.

Aamir Khan & Akshay Kumar, two of the highest tax payers in Bollywood, will star in a documentary produced by the Income Tax Department to spread the message of tax compliance.

The documentary, which is about 20-minutes-long, is narrated by veteran actor Om Puri in his trademark baritone & will also star Priyanka Chopra, according to media sources. The documentary will be unveiled by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee during the first-ever Income Tax day celebrations on July 24 in New Delhi.

Akshay paid an advance tax of Rs 9 crore in March 2010, taking his total advance tax payment in the current financial year to Rs 18 crore. Aamir, with an advance tax payment of Rs 12 crore, stands second.

“The ensemble, which includes Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar & Priyanka Chopra, represent the youth and spirit of the country. They are successful & pay their income tax responsibly,” a top I-T officer involved in the project said.

Amitabh Bachchan urges Aamir Khan to join Twitter

Aamir Khan may soon join the micro-blogging site Twitter thanks to Amitabh Bachchan, who used his powers of persuasion on him.

“At dinner with Aamir. Coaxing him to come on Twitter,” Amitabh posted on his Twitter page. “Success come to those that dare and act!! Convinced the inconvincible Aamir over dinner to come on Twitter.”

Big B affirmed that Aamir will be on site soon and posted a picture of them on the site with the caption – “With Aamir at dinner, Italian, good food and the smile on his face is his excitement of being convinced to come on Twitter”.
